Onkyo picture frame with HDMI input, doubles as a secondary display

Apparently, digital picture frames have to be more useful instead of displaying your photos only. Onkyo has announced a digital picture frame, LPF10M01, which is a 10-inch frame that boasts a resolution of 1024×600 with 250 cd/m2 brightness, but it’s equipped with an HDMI input that allows it to be used as a secondary display for any of your video sources (computer or digital TV etc).

Although it has an HDMI input but its screen resolution of 1024×600 definitely defeats the purpose of being able to allow the connection from any HD sources. But on the positive side, since other video connectors will gradually phase out, the use of an HDMI input will be much better choice, making it suitable for both computers and standalone video players.

The Onkyo picture frame also has an internal memory of 512MB. It supports JPEG, AVI, MPEG-4, MP3, and WMA and is also equipped with a memory stick and card reader, a USB port that allow ease of side content loading via memory card/stick and USB drive. Its screen also allows you to have a 140 degrees viewing angle. It shall be ready on August 6 for the Japanese market for a price around $230. But no word if it’ll be headed to the US!
