TankBot – the iPhone-controlled robotic toy

Desk Pets have made its TankBot available, a micro robotic toy that costs you only sub $20 and its controllable by the use of your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch. TankBot works in three modes, which can controlled from the iDevice allowing it to navigate mazes and roam etc.

The TankBot is also rechargeable via its built-in USB connection so you do not have to spend extra for batteries. Each TankBot comes with a dongle that plugs into the headphone jack of your iPhone, iPad or iPod, then allowing any of the iDevices to control the TankBot.

It also makes use of the accelerometer of your iDevice, allowng just tilting actions for controlling the TankBot to move forward or backward or make turns. Thanks to the integrated IR sensors and also the autonomous mode, which allow the TankBot navigate mazes, avoid obstacles and interact with your hand motions. Features at a glance are as follows:
